2012 Cross Country begins!
Welcome all to the start of the 2012 Cross Country season!
We just finished 10 great days of preseason training and classes begin today at Middlebury, During preseason, in addition to some great miles and hills put in, the teams enjoyed swimming in Lake Champlain, hiking up to Silver Lake, a fun, pot luck team dinner at our home and cooked dinner for 200+ people for the United Way Community Supper in town. We finished off the session of training with a low key meet at Dartmouth College. As we had in the past at this meet, we focused on working together and running controlled at a dictated pace for the majority of the race. Overall, it was a great ten days and gets us excited for the upcoming weeks.
I am fortunate to have the assistance of Noah Hurlburt again this year. His knowledge, passion and dedication of the sport and the team was clear last year and we are all fortunate to have him on board with us again. Our Captains this year are Seniors Jack Davies & Patrick Hebble for the men and leading the women are Juliet Ryan-Davis, Emily Attwood & Katie Rominger. Already, they have put in a lot of time and effort behind the scenes and for that, I am already appreciative.
We have a strong group of first years that have already settled in nicely. Donning Midd uniforms for the first time this year are Kate Leib, Caroline Guiot, Olivia Artaiz, and Katherine Tercek for the Women and on the Men's side, we have Aaron deToledo, Mark Perry, Sebastian Matt, Sam Cartwright, Luke Carpinello and Gilbert Kipkorir.
This coming weekend, on Saturday, the 15th, we are hosting the Aldrich Invitational, which is our only home meet of the season. Races are at 1:00 and 1:45. As in the past, we will have a post race pot luck party (after the awards ceremony). We welcome everyone to attend and visit with us. Please let me know (via e-mail) if you would like to contribute in any way to the festivities and I will connect you to the parents that are helping with the organization.
Thanks again for the continued support! Best, Nicole
