The Panthers perform great at ECAC's!

November 5, 2007

This past weekend, we rested our top 5-6 runners as our JV runners headed down to Williamstown to compete at the ECAC Championships. .

It was another great weekend to be a Panther - both of our teams did very well! The course was the same course as the NESCAC meet the previous week but was considerably faster because it was dry.

The men’s team finished 7th out of 37 teams, led by Peter Hoffman who came in 23rd place (27:22). Jack Terrett put down an amazing closing mile and was next for the team in 32nd place (27:32). Max Mackinnon out sprinted teammate Nat Nelson for a tight finish with Max taking 43rd place (27:45) and Nat grabbing 44th (27:46). Victor Guevara came through in 47th in 27:51 rounding out our top 5 for the day. Donny Dickson came in 71st, followed by Dan Kaufman.

The women came in 3rd out of 31 teams – led by Kaitlyn Saldanha in 8th place. Kaitlyn ran 23:18 and was followed by senior Sarah Norton. Sarah ran 1:46 faster this week than the previous….Anna Chavis came in 23rd place in 24:02, just a hair in front of Ellie Buechner who was 24th in 24:04. Jess Spar, still on the mend from being sick during the week came in 29th in 24:12 and Mallory Hicks improved over a minute over last weeks time, coming in under the 25 minute mark of 24:52.

The teams are beginning to enjoy our full taper period for the regional qualifying meet at Conn College this coming Saturday. The meet also serves as the Division 3 New England Championships as well as a earning a trip to Nationals is on the line…it promises to be very exciting!

Have a great week!
